What is Clonidine?
Clonidine is primarily an anti-hypertensive medicine prescribed for lowering blood pressure. It is also used to treat other conditions like attention deficit, anxiety problems, withdrawal symptoms, diarrhoea, migraine and menopausal flushing.
Classification and Mechanism of Action
It is a sympatholytic and belongs to the centrally acting alpha-2 adrenergic agonist and Imidazoline receptor agonist. It acts on the alpha-2 receptors in the brain and causes a reduction in the sympathetic tone, renal vascular resistance, peripheral vascular resistance heart rate, and blood pressure.

Keep it in its blister pack away from light and moisture. Keep away from kids.
How to take the medication?
Take it orally with or without food. Follow the instructions of your doctor.
Dosage
Dosage depends on age, weight and the condition being treated. Initial recommended dose is 0.1mg twice a day.
Overdose
Consult your doctor right away.
Missed Dose
If it is time for your next dose then skip the missed dose or else take it as soon as you remember. Do not double dose.
Warnings and Precautions
Do not stop the medication on your own. Do not use in case of pregnancy-induced hypertension, severe heart or kidney disease.
